CEO Hector Fernandez said: “Our new brand identity signals who we are becoming and how our culture, capabilities and content are propelling us forward.” IGT has not yet published a rollout timeline for products, cabinets and marketing materials.

Why this matters for brands

These two launches sit at opposite ends of the rebranding spectrum, and that is exactly why they are useful side by side.

McLaren is a heritage-led evolution. It kept every high-equity asset (the Speedmark, papaya, the Kiwi) and changed the one element that was holding it back, the wordmark. Critics at Creative Bloq noted that the previous, chunkier logo had started to look dated, and that the new mark feels closer to a luxury house. The strategic move is not the typeface. It is unification: one expression across Racing and Automotive at the exact moment the company is expanding into new vehicle categories. A single brand system makes every future product launch cheaper and every sponsorship more valuable.

IGT is a transformation signal. When two companies merge, the market, employees and customers all ask the same thing: what is this now? A new identity is the fastest public answer. IGT chose the industry’s biggest North American trade show to deliver it, in front of the exact buyers (casino operators and digital platforms) whose perception matters most. For a private equity owned business, a coherent brand is also part of the eventual exit story. Buyers and public markets pay more for one clear company than for a collection of legacy names.

The common thread: both rebrands follow a business change, not a design itch. McLaren is expanding its product range and uniting two divisions. IGT is telling the story of a merger. Salesloft’s CMO Laurie Ehrbar put the principle well earlier this month when her company unified with Clari: “The company changed first, and the brand needed to catch up.”

There is also a new reason to get this right in 2026. Customers increasingly meet your brand through AI answers in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews before they ever see your logo. When a company renames, merges or repositions, those systems keep repeating the old story until enough consistent, well-structured content tells them otherwise. A rebrand without a generative engine optimization plan leaves AI search visibility stuck in the past.

5 recommendations for founders and CMOs planning a rebrand

1. Start with the business event, not the logo

Write one sentence that explains why the company is different today than when the current brand was built: a merger, a new category, a funding round, an IPO path. If you cannot write that sentence, you need brand strategy and positioning work first, not a new identity. Both McLaren and IGT could answer it in one line.

2. Audit your equity before you change anything

McLaren kept its most recognized assets and changed only what was dated. Before any rebranding project, map which elements carry recognition and trust (colors, symbols, names, sounds) and which carry baggage. Protect the first group. Replace the second. Evolution is usually cheaper and safer than revolution, and it preserves the brand equity investors already value.

3. Design the brand architecture for where you are going

The hardest decisions in a post-merger rebrand are architectural. Which product names survive? Which get folded in? IGT kept the Everi brand in select markets after the deal, and Salesloft kept “Clari Forecast” because of its market recognition. Decide your master brand, sub-brands and endorsed products deliberately, and document the rules in your brand guidelines so every team applies them the same way.

4. Launch where your buyers already are

IGT revealed its identity at G2E. McLaren tied its reveal to a year of heritage storytelling and a race weekend. Pick a launch moment with built-in attention from the audience that decides your value: a flagship conference, an earnings call, a funding announcement, a product launch. A rebrand announced into silence is a rebrand wasted.

5. Rebrand for AI search on day one

Update your website, About page, leadership bios, LinkedIn pages, press boilerplate and structured data together, on launch day. Publish a clear explainer that states the old name, the new name and what the company does in plain language. Add FAQ content that answer engines can quote. This is the fastest way to make sure LLMs describe the new company, not the old one, when a prospect or investor asks about you.

How Sagi & Co. helps

If you’re building something remarkable but your brand undersells it, a rebrand is the moment to close that gap. Sagi & Co. is a branding agency and innovation, strategy and design firm founded in 2012 by Yaron Sagi. We work with founders and CMOs at tech companies, scale-ups and pre-IPO brands, and our focus is simple: branding that grows business valuation.

We lead rebranding programs end to end: brand strategy and positioning, brand identity design (logo, art direction, guidelines, packaging), brand architecture for mergers and multi-product companies, launch marketing strategy, and SEO and generative engine optimization content so your new story shows up in Google and in AI answers. We have supported brands including Meta, where we rolled out its rebrand across EMEA marketing materials, as well as Apple, Nike, Disney and Mobileye. Our campaign for Rivulis won Best Brand Campaign at The Drum Awards B2B 2020.

FAQ

When should a company rebrand?

A company should rebrand when the business has changed and the brand no longer tells the truth about it. Common triggers include a merger or acquisition, entry into a new category, a major funding round, preparation for an IPO, or an identity that looks dated next to competitors. A rebrand without a business reason rarely creates value.

What is the difference between a brand refresh and a full rebrand?

A brand refresh evolves the existing identity, updating elements like the wordmark, typography or color palette while keeping core recognizable assets. McLaren’s September 2026 update is a refresh. A full rebrand changes the positioning, and sometimes the name, to reflect a new company, as often happens after a merger such as IGT and Everi.

How does a rebrand increase business valuation?

A rebrand increases valuation when it makes the company easier to understand, trust and buy. Clear positioning shortens sales cycles, supports premium pricing and helps investors see one coherent business instead of several legacy names. For private equity and pre-IPO companies, a strong, unified brand strengthens the equity story at exit or listing.

How do you make sure AI search engines reflect a rebrand?

Update every owned source on launch day: website, About page, press boilerplate, LinkedIn and structured data. Publish a plain-language explainer that states the old name, new name and what the company does, plus FAQ content that answer engines can quote. Consistent, well-structured information helps ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity describe the new brand accurately.

What should a post-merger brand strategy include?

A post-merger brand strategy should define the master brand, which product and legacy names survive, the positioning of the combined company, and the rollout sequence for customers, employees and investors. It should also include brand guidelines, a launch moment in front of key buyers, and a content plan for SEO and AI search visibility.

Meta’s New VR Glasses Just Changed the Brief. Here is what it means for brand strategy, marketing and visibility in AI search.

The post Meta’s New VR Glasses Just Changed the Brief. Is Your Brand Ready for Face-Level Marketing? appeared first on Sagi & Co..

]]>
On September 23 and 24, 2026, Meta used its annual Connect conference to make one thing clear: the next screen your customers look at will not be in their pocket. It will be on their face.

Mark Zuckerberg introduced the Meta VR Glasses, a roughly 100-gram headset built on slim pancake lenses and micro-OLED displays, paired with a separate compute puck. Alongside it came a third generation of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses, a camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio model, a wider international rollout of the Meta Ray-Ban Display, and a small keychain device called Muse Charm that houses a personal AI agent.

For most people, this is gadget news. For founders, CMOs and brand leaders, it is a strategy signal. When the interface changes, the rules of attention change with it, and so do the rules of branding. This article breaks down what Meta announced, why it matters to your brand, and the five moves we recommend right now.

What Meta Announced at Connect 2026

Here is the short version of the lineup, based on reporting from Engadget, VR.org and Meta’s own announcement.

Meta Connect 2026 keynote, via Meta on YouTube

Meta VR Glasses. Priced at $1,299.99 and expected in spring 2027. The headset weighs about 100 grams on the face, with the processing handled by a tethered puck. It supports hand-gesture control, full-color passthrough, hologram-style calling with realistic avatars, 3D movies from Disney+, and more than 100 live sports events a year through partners across leagues and networks.

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3). Available now from $449, with a 12 MP camera, 3K video, longer battery life and a six-microphone array designed to cut background noise.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio. From $349, shipping October 13. At 43 grams and with no camera at all, it is built around an always-available AI voice assistant, music, podcasts and calls.

Meta Ray-Ban Display. The glasses with an in-lens screen are now available in Canada (CA$1,149) and the UK, with Germany, France and Italy following in October.

Muse Charm. A keychain-sized companion that carries a personal AI agent, with a small display, speakers, microphones and a fingerprint sensor.

Put together, Meta is building a full spectrum: from audio-only AI companions, to camera glasses, to glasses with displays, to lightweight VR. Every tier puts an AI assistant between the customer and the world.

Everything announced at Meta Connect 2026 in under 10 minutes, via CNET on YouTube

Why This Matters for Brands (Even If You Never Build a VR App)

1. The customer journey is moving from “search and scroll” to “ask and receive”

Every product Meta showed is centered on an AI assistant. A customer wearing Ray-Ban Meta Audio does not open a browser and compare ten blue links. They ask a question out loud and get one answer.

That shift is already happening on phones and laptops through ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews. Wearables accelerate it. When the interface is a voice in your ear, there is no page two. There often is not even a page one. There is a single recommendation.

This is why Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), sometimes called AI search optimization or LLM visibility, is now a brand discipline, not only a technical SEO task. AI models recommend brands they understand clearly: a sharp category position, consistent language across the web, credible third-party mentions, and content that answers real questions directly. If your brand story is vague, the machine will not guess on your behalf. It will recommend the competitor whose story is clear.

2. Your brand identity has to work without a screen

A camera-free, audio-first product like Ray-Ban Meta Audio is a reminder that many brand moments will have no logo, no color palette and no layout. What survives is verbal identity: your name, how it sounds when spoken, your tagline, your tone of voice, and the one-sentence description an assistant uses to introduce you.

Ask yourself: if an AI assistant had to describe your company in twelve words, what would it say? Would a customer remember it? Would they be able to repeat it to a colleague? That sentence is now a brand asset as important as your logo.

3. Visual identity has to scale from a keychain to a 5K virtual screen

At the other end of the spectrum, the Meta VR Glasses place content in front of a viewer at a scale no billboard can match, with full-color passthrough blending your content into the real room. Brand systems built only for social tiles and website headers will feel thin in that environment.

Future-ready brand identity design needs motion principles, depth and spatial behavior, sound, and rules for how the brand appears in 3D, as well as how it shrinks down to a tiny display on a device like Muse Charm. The brands that plan this now will not have to rebuild later.

4. Experience becomes the product

Live sports in 180 degrees, 3D films, hologram calls: Meta is selling experiences, not hardware specs. The launch itself was a brand lesson. Look at how Meta positioned each product: fashion partnerships with Ray-Ban, celebrity editions, lifestyle naming, entertainment content at launch. Nobody led with the chipset.

For any company launching a product, especially in tech, this is the standard your audience now expects. Product launch branding has to translate features into feelings and outcomes. If your launch deck reads like a spec sheet, your market will treat you like a commodity.

5. Trust and privacy become brand differentiators

Meta’s decision to release a camera-free model is telling. As devices move onto our faces, people care more about who is watching and listening. For brands, trust is no longer a line in the privacy policy. It is part of the brand promise, and it should be designed into the experience and the messaging from day one.

Five Moves We Recommend Now

You do not need a VR strategy tomorrow. You do need a brand that is legible to both humans and machines, on any surface. Here is where we start with our clients.

1. Sharpen your category position. Define exactly what you are, who you are for, and why you win, in language simple enough for an AI to repeat accurately. Positioning clarity is the foundation of both brand equity and AI search visibility.

2. Build an answer library. Create FAQ pages, insights articles and comparison content that answer the real questions your buyers ask, in a direct, answer-first format. This is what LLMs quote and what Google’s AI Overviews surface. Consistency across your website, LinkedIn, press and directories matters as much as volume.

3. Develop your verbal identity. Name, tagline, tone of voice, and a standard spoken description of your company. Test how your brand sounds read aloud by an assistant.

4. Extend your brand system into motion, sound and space. Add motion guidelines, sonic cues and spatial rules to your brand guidelines, so your identity holds up from a smartwatch notification to an immersive environment.

5. Earn third-party credibility. AI models weigh what others say about you. Awards, case studies, media coverage, partner mentions and thought leadership on platforms like LinkedIn all feed the signals that decide whether your brand is recommended.

The Bigger Picture: Branding That Moves Valuation

Every major interface shift has created a new set of winners. Brands that understood search in the early 2000s built lasting advantages. Brands that understood mobile and social in the 2010s did the same. The AI and spatial computing shift is the next one, and it is happening faster.

Investors and acquirers already price brand strength into company valuation: pricing power, customer loyalty, talent attraction and lower acquisition costs. In an AI-mediated market, there is a new line on that list: being the brand the machine recommends. For founders preparing for a raise, an acquisition or an IPO, that is not a marketing detail. It is enterprise value.

Frequently Asked Questions

What did Meta announce at Connect 2026?

Meta announced the Meta VR Glasses ($1,299.99, spring 2027), Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 AI glasses (from $449), the camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio (from $349), a wider rollout of Meta Ray-Ban Display, and Muse Charm, a keychain device for a personal AI agent.

How do AI glasses affect marketing and branding?

AI glasses put an assistant between the customer and the brand. Customers ask a question and receive one answer, so brands need clear positioning, a strong verbal identity and consistent content that AI models can understand and recommend.

What is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)?

GEO is the practice of making a brand visible and accurately described in AI-generated answers from tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. It combines brand positioning, answer-first content, structured data and third-party credibility.

Do brands need a VR or spatial computing strategy now?

Most brands do not need a VR app yet. They do need a brand system that works across voice, small displays and immersive environments, and a positioning clear enough for AI assistants to repeat. Building that foundation now avoids a costly rebuild later.

Why hire a branding agency for AI search visibility?

AI models recommend brands with a clear, consistent story. A branding agency defines that story, then turns it into identity, messaging and content. Technical SEO alone cannot fix a vague position; strategy and brand clarity come first.

Your next best client may already have a preference about you, and you had nothing to do with forming it.

According to G2’s March 2026 buyer survey, 51% of B2B buyers now start their research in an AI chatbot more often than Google, up from just 29% a year earlier. More striking: 69% of B2B buyers say they chose a different vendor than they originally planned because of what an AI chatbot recommended, and 33% bought from a vendor they’d never even heard of before the AI surfaced it. Your buying committee isn’t just Googling you anymore. They’re asking ChatGPT and Perplexity to summarize you, compare you, and recommend someone. Brand visibility in AI search has quietly become the new front door to your pipeline, and most companies haven’t updated the locks.

This isn’t a technical SEO footnote. It’s a positioning problem, which means it’s a leadership problem before it’s a marketing one.

The New Gatekeeper Doesn’t Read Your Website the Way You Think

Search engines used to rank pages. AI models synthesize an answer. When a buyer asks an AI tool “who’s the best branding partner for a growth-stage company in Miami,” the model doesn’t hand back ten blue links for the buyer to sort through. It picks a short list and describes each option in a sentence or two, pulled from whatever it has absorbed about you across the web: your site, press coverage, review platforms, podcast transcripts, LinkedIn posts, client case studies, even forum threads.

If that composite picture is thin, outdated, or contradictory, the model either leaves you out or describes you in a way you wouldn’t recognize. You don’t get a chance to correct the record in real time. The AI has already spoken before the buyer ever lands on your homepage.

Why Fuzzy Positioning Gets You Left Out

Here’s the part that should concern any CEO who’s grown past their original brand: AI models resolve ambiguity by defaulting to whoever is clearest, not whoever is best. If your positioning statement changes depending on which page of your site you’re reading, or if your team describes what you do differently than your website does, the model has no confident sentence to draw from. It fills the gap with something generic, or it fills the gap with a competitor.

This is precisely where growth-stage companies get hurt. You’ve outgrown the brand you launched with, your offering has matured, but the language describing you online is still scattered across five years of inconsistent updates. A model summarizing you today is summarizing that mess.

The Citation Stack: A Practical Framework for AI Visibility

Rather than chasing every new AI visibility tool on the market, we’ve found it more useful to think about brand visibility in AI search as three layers, in priority order.

Owned: give the model something clean to quote. Your site, your about page, and your case studies need one unambiguous sentence that answers “what do you do and who is it for.” Structure your content so a model can lift a clear claim without having to infer one. This means direct, declarative language, not clever taglines that require context to land.

Earned: exist in the places models actually crawl. Reviews, press mentions, podcast appearances, industry roundups, and third-party comparisons carry more weight with AI models than your own marketing copy, because they read as independent confirmation. If you’re not present on the review platforms and publications your buyers already trust, you’re invisible to the systems summarizing your category, no matter how good your website is.

Consistent: repeat the same positioning everywhere, on purpose. The fastest way to improve your AI visibility isn’t a new campaign, it’s an audit. Pull your last twenty pieces of public-facing content, from your site to your LinkedIn to your press quotes, and check whether they describe you the same way. Most companies are shocked by how much drift has crept in.

How to Audit Where You Stand This Week

Before investing in anything, run a simple test. Ask ChatGPT and Perplexity directly: “who are the top [your category] firms for [your target client]?” See if you appear. Then ask “what does [your company name] do?” and compare the answer to how you’d describe yourself. The gap between those two answers is your actual brand visibility problem, stated in plain language, no dashboard required.

We’ve watched founders discover through this exercise that the AI’s summary of their company was two positioning iterations behind where the business actually is, built entirely from outdated case studies still ranking in search. The fix wasn’t a rebrand. It was cleaning up the record.

Where to Start This Quarter

Prioritize in this order: first, write and lock a single, unambiguous positioning sentence, and make sure it’s the one sentence used everywhere, from your homepage to your LinkedIn bio. Second, audit your presence on the third-party platforms your buyers actually check, and close the biggest gaps. Third, re-run the ChatGPT and Perplexity test every quarter, the way you’d check analytics, because these models update and your standing shifts.

This is also exactly the work we walk clients through at Sagi & Co when their brand has outgrown its own paperwork: get the positioning airtight first, then make sure it’s the version of you that’s actually being told, whether the audience is a human on your site or a model summarizing you to one. Brand visibility in AI search rewards clarity over cleverness, and consistency over volume. The companies that treat this as a leadership priority now will be the ones AI recommends by default in a year. The rest will keep wondering why they didn’t make the shortlist.
